Kiddo thinks it&#8217;s really weird looking in a tank and more so when served on a sushi platter (see previous post of her making sushi), while I like them down raw, chopped and served with wasabi&#8230;.ok let&#8217;s not get too carried away here&#8230;&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>While this is not the only paper cup octopus you&#8217;ll find around the web, this is certainly one that loves to swirl and dance around when you pick him up.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What you need are:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 paper cups<\/li>\n<li>cardboard<\/li>\n<li>toothpicks \/ pointy food sticks<\/li>\n<li>1 rubber band<\/li>\n<li>sticky tape<\/li>\n<li>colour paper<\/li>\n<li>colouring material<\/li>\n<li>scissors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Instructions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cut 8 equal parts on 1 of the cup&#8217;s sides. Do not cut all the way to the base. Leave about 1-2 cm from the base of the cup.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8327\/8082884117_a7c706f0af_o.jpg\" alt=\"My Swirly Octopus\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use a chopstick to curl the &#8216;legs&#8217; of the octopus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8195\/8082877668_69b50a8a57_o.jpg\" alt=\"My Swirly Octopus\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cut a piece of cardboard and make a &#8216;T&#8217; structure by splitting one end into half. Then punch a hole on the other half.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8335\/8082884315_82806c1be6_o.jpg\" alt=\"My Swirly Octopus\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make a slit at the bottom of the &#8216;leggy&#8217; cup and insert the cardboard T through it. Adhere the T from the insides of the cup.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8470\/8082884419_10d1146582_o.jpg\" alt=\"My Swirly Octopus\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>While the &#8216;leggy&#8217; cup gets worked on, start kiddo on decorating the body\/head of the octopus (the other cup).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8465\/8082878072_61421641c2_o.jpg\" alt=\"My Swirly Octopus\" width=\"533\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Once she&#8217;s done, a slit was made at the bottom of her cup. This is for the &#8216;tail&#8217; bit. Get kiddo to draw out a tail, colour it and probably help her cut it to shape.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8051\/8082884657_59ff1b61f7_o.jpg\" alt=\"My Swirly Octopus\" width=\"533\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Here comes the tricky part. Pull a rubber band through the hole on the T piece of cardboard and punch 2 holes near the rim of the body cup.<\/li>\n<li>Stretch ends of the rubber band through the 2 holes of the body cup and hold each end in place with a toothpick\/stick. Adhere the sticks with sticky tape.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8473\/8082878294_5f494ba687_o.jpg\" alt=\"My Swirly Octopus\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8188\/8082884943_f4246ef5b5_o.jpg\" alt=\"My Swirly Octopus\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Now decorate the rest of the octopus, e.g. the legs, eyes, body etc&#8230;&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8044\/8082878540_1c30646233_o.jpg\" alt=\"My Swirly Octopus\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&amp; taadaaaaa&#8230;&#8230;the octopus is now complete.
