Today’s the last day of the Lunar New Year (the 15th day – catch the full moon!). Traditionally glutinous rice dumplings are made and served on this day (just like the Winter Solstice). I remember that my grandma would make these from scratch, in marble-sized balls of yellow, white and pink and served in gingery syrup/soup. These were also used as offerings to the gods on this day.
Nowadays, treats like these can be easily purchased year round from supermarkets and Kiddo loves those with the peanut paste filling. But I’m pretty sure to her, much of the significance of having these glutinous balls on this day would most likely be lost.
